The building itself stands 450 feet tall, but in addition to its obvious architectural and aesthetic charm there are also some great historical exhibits to learn from.
Mike the Tiger Habitat
Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge offers the distinction of having a living breathing mascot named Mike the Tiger. Mike’s habitat opened in 2005 and he lives in a state-of-the art facility with 15,000 square feet of space for Mike to enjoy, complete with its own waterfall, a live oak tree, natural substrates, and lush plantings. Mike is tended by his own private veterinarian who is on site to see to all of Mike’s needs.
USS Kidd Veteran’s Museum
This museum includes a Fletcher Class WWII Destroyer fully restored to its 1945 appearance with over 50 inner spaces to see. It also pays homage to other conflicts with other militaria like a P-40 aircraft, a full-scale replica deck of Old Ironsides, a Corsair A-7E jet and more. Allow at least an hour and a half to fully tour the museum.
